Singapore to Penang:
The phone rang at 6 AM promptly. A quick shower, and I am ready to travel. I caught the 7 AM hotel shuttle and made it to the airport around 7:20. I am using terminal 2 this time. I usually take terminma l 1 for international flights. I noticed a couple of European travellers, an old couple, with four large suitcases and two carry-on bags. The irony is that, despite all that they carry in the suitcases, they wore only singlets -sleeveless t-shirts, and shorts. I wonder what they carry in their suitcases.
In the airport, the first thing I noticed, walking around in a quest for breakfast, is that there is a hotel in the airport: the Airport Transit Hotel. I could have used this hotel,if I have known. I could have, gotten to bed sooner last night. Ah well, next time. The web site is http://www.airport-hotel.com.sg/.
I found a food stall called Wang's cafe that sells Laksa. This is the local name for curry noodles, my favorite food. I order a laksa and an iced coffee. Airport food is considerably more expensive. The noodles and coffee cost9 SGD, about twice as much as outside.
I shared a table with a gentleman. We talked about local politics, Lee Kuan Yew, Malaysian politics Najib, racism and so on. Very interesting person. He gave me a lot of insights into the Indian software industry.
I picked up a xD chip at the camera store, and so I am back in business. I also picked up some chocolates for the kids and my sister. Mission accomplished.
